ART AND POLITICS: HIDDEN MEXICAN MARKETS AND A CITY TOUR.

Full Itinerary:

Let’s talk about Mexican muralism! Follow a local guide through a tiny market and learn about the social and political struggles of Mexico City through public art. You’ll follow the city’s history through mural paintings in a most unexpected place: a local market.
Famous Mexican muralist Diego Rivera championed a unique project to have young artists from the 1930s present their work in a way that would be accessible to the common person. In this experience, you’ll explore this hidden gem that not even many Mexicans know about. We can’t leave the market until we try some tamales and atole as traditional mexican breakfast.
After this, we will learn more about Tenochtitlan through some ruins in the very heart of Mexico City. Following Mexican history, just right next to it, we will admire the colonial architecture while visiting the Metropolitan Cathedral, a building that took 300 years to finish!
Then let’s have one of the best views of Bellas Artes talking about this amazing building and history while having a coffee.
Finally we’ll head to a local pulqueria, kind of an old cantina but with pulque. Pulque is one of the oldest drinks Mexico have, in the ancient time only the most important people and pregnant women were able to have it.
*Vegans and vegetarians are welcome.
